

Armen Henderson MD, MBA
Armen Henderson founded Dade County Street Response in 2017 while in residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital. He has been instrumental in shaping a new vision for American healthcare through sustaining hyper local programming that prioritizes poor and working class communities. Armen is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine and Director of Community Engagement at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He is also a 2025 Aspen Ideas Health Fellow and a 2022 Echoing Green Global Fellow.

Daniel Bergholz MD
Daniel founded Miami Street Medicine in 2018 as a medical student at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he led the integration of Miami Street Medicine with Dade County Street Response and has since played a central role in building the organization’s infrastructure. Dan currently is a fellow in Addiction Medicine at Yale SOM.

Kavan Mulloy MD
Kavan was instrumental in formalizing our community and street psychiatry programs while he was a medical student at the University of Miami, Miller SOM. By defining standards and building infrastructure around psychiatric care, our street psychiatry program serves as a national model. He also is the founder of the DCSR's Annual Foot Washing event, our largest community health expo. Kavan is currently a psychiatry resident at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Lena Carlton MD
Lena co-founded DCSR's Disaster Relief Team in 2018, while she was a medical student at Florida International University SOM, as part of a social entrepreneurship incubator offered by Radical Partners. This program also helped DCSR officially incorporate as a 501c3. Lena is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine in EM/IM at the University of Maryland SOM.

Azaria Lewis MD
Azaria founded and incubated Plant Power Rx under DCSR in 2021, which was Miami's first food pharmacy program. Through her program she has partnered with local and national organizations to consistently bring fresh food to hundreds of families across Miami-Dade County. Plant Power was recently awarded its own 501c3. Azaria is currently in her last year of residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Zahra Ukani MD
Zahra was first involved with DCSR as an elected staff member on the disaster releif team while she was a medical student at FIU SOM. She was instrumental in laying the groundwork for our disaster relief team to become an international model of community response by formalizing the partnership under the community emergency operations center. Zahra is currently in her last year of internal medicine residency at George Washington University SOM.

Joshua Laban MD
Joshua Laban is the Director of Research at Dade County Street Response, where he leads efforts to build the foundation for program expansion that directly benefits marginalized communities. His work centers on using data and storytelling to demonstrate impact, guide strategy, and advance equitable models of care. Joshua is an assistant professor of clinical medicine at the University of Miami, Miller SOM.
