Miami Street Medicine

Even with available free clinics and traditional points of entry to hospital care, many barriers to healthcare remain for unsheltered individuals. To overcome these barriers, we must reach out to our community.

The Miami Street Medicine (MSM) clinic meets our neighbors on the street on their own terms and turf. We offer these “house calls” to build trust, bridge gaps between existing healthcare services, transition patients into housing & a primary-care relationship, educate & counsel, and deliver other high-quality healthcare services free of charge. Additionally, we know not to underestimate the quiet healing potential of simply acknowledging a person’s humanity, empathetic listening, and collaborative service outreach.

What We Do at MSM

Street Rounds

Our program aims to address the unique needs of our local houseless population with collaborative, high-quality, and delivered care.

CARE COORDINATION

Our team acts as a "quarterback" for our patients, assisting with critical needs like obtaining government IDs, bus passes, and navigating complex insurance approval processes.

RESEARCH & QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

Our Participatory Research Institute conducts evidence-based studies on mental health and chronic disease to fill data gaps for vulnerable populations and drive equitable policy.

We host nationally recognized clinical tracks, teaching medical students and residents trauma-informed care and street medicine through immersive, hands-on rotations.
